The smart control center for efficient compressed air systems

The most significant potential for optimizing a compressed air system lies in the effective control of the compressors and processing components. For a compressed air station with several compressors, the implementation of a higher-level control is recommended. This adjusts the production of compressed air according to current requirements and thus minimizes the switching frequency and idle operation. The compressor network can be controlled by system splitting, speed regulation or operating sequence, always with the aim of optimally covering base, medium and peak loads. This largely reduces inefficient partial load operation.

Splitting operating times across multiple compressors offers additional benefits, such as reducing the risk of failure and facilitating maintenance calls. If one compressor fails, the higher-level control automatically starts another one to avoid expensive downtime. However, it should be noted that the effectiveness of an intelligent higher-level control depends largely on the quality of the connected compressors. The compressors should therefore be dimensioned so that the resulting network pressure can optimally cover the actual demand. This represents the basic requirement for minimal energy consumption.
