Leakages in compressed air systems permanently cause unnecessary costs: Even new, well-maintained compressed air networks lose around 15 to 20 percent of compressed air – in older networks, this figure quickly rises to 30 to 40 percent. This is why leakage measures save money, protect compressed air generation and are a sensible preventive maintenance measure.

Leaks can be found in all areas of the compressed air network. However, leaks right at the beginning of the network usually account for the largest share. For example, leaking couplings, hoses, fittings or defective tools cause considerable air losses. Replacing defective components can already save a significant amount of energy.

But aging piping systems can also lead to problems. Often unnoticed, leaks occur there that unnecessarily drive up compressed air consumption and thus energy costs. This can be remedied by professional leak detection, which detects leaks.

The piping system itself offers a high potential for energy savings. For example, pipelines that are too small in size lead to significant pressure losses. Just 1 bar higher pressure means 10 percent more energy consumption.
