FG Filter elements with open bottom pleats

Filtration Group Industrial’s customer is a traditional engineering company and, as a leading manufacturer in Europe, produces equipment for testing services. This includes fire extinguishers, emptying and filling equipment. Powder suction machines are used for servicing powder fire extinguishers (emptying and refilling). During filling, the empty fire extinguisher is pressed electropneumatically against the filling opening and the automatic filling process is started. When the set filling weight is reached, a pneumatic valve interrupts the extinguishing powder flow and the reversing process is initiated. After completion of the reversing process, all valves are closed. The automatic filling process is completed and the fire extinguisher container can be lowered and removed. During this process, dusts are generated which must be extracted. Only dry extinguishing powders are removed from active fire extinguishers by a powder suction machine, in which Filtration Group filter elements of type KE 3225 TI 56-0.2 are integrated.

Challenge

Filtration Group dust filter elements with open bottom pleat for extracting dust from fire extinguishers. This application is a product filter, i.e. large quantities of extinguishing powder are always present in the unit. Use of polyester fleece with PTFE membrane for effective separation of the entire amount of dust on the membrane surface. By changing from depth to surface filtration, the bonding of the FG filter elements was optimized to create an open filter element with 45 pleats for the first time.
