FG Backflushing filters for centralized cooling lubricant treatment

MAHLE GmbH in Rottweil, who is a Filtration Group Industrial customer, manufactures a wide range of built pistons with various material combinations. The steel-aluminium pistons feature a forged steel top section and a forged aluminium bottom section. The pistons are suitable for low to medium cylinder sections and are now the standard in medium-speed engines. Production takes place on machine tools with a central cooling lubricant treatment system, which is to be automated.

In the production of truck pistons, a smooth production process must be ensured by clean cooling lubricant free of steel particles. This is finely filtered in the high-pressure area. A modified FAUDI belt filter system from Mayfran originally took over the prefiltration.

Challenge

The cooling lubricant consists of 8% oil. In addition to that, the self-contained supply of band filter should be completely replaced by the new centralized cooling lubricant treatment system.

Downstream to the FAUDI band filter plant there is an AF 179 that ensures a filtration rate from < 40 µm. Thanks to the omission of process interruptions and the significantly longer maintenance intervals, the new system works highly cost-efficient.
