Conical dust filter cartridges for powerful suction filtration

A suction excavator is a combination of a classic dredger with suction technology. Suction evacuators provide robust technology for high performance evacuation-, construction- and cleaning jobs. Thanks to the long sucking pipe, this evacuator can be used for much more complex operations, than a standard dredger. Suction evacuators are mainly used for underground or street constructions, but can also be found at channel works, reconstructions and railway- or tunnel constructions

Challenge

Due to the wide scope of application and the extremely high sucking performance of the vehicles, high stable allround filter elements are required, that can handle multiple sorts of dust.

The space in the suction dredger is extremely limited but nevertheless as many filter elements as possible need to be installed in the vehicle. An additional problem is the unloading procedure of the vehicle where the complete container with the filter unit is turned and shaked. This is a very high stress for the connection of the filter elements, that’s why this connection needs to be very stable and needs to resist high shear forces.

Solution statement

The suction evacuator contains a labyrinth pre filtration to protect the elements against heavy contaminations like stones or branches
Filtration Group Industrial chooses a slightly modified version of the 160 NKC filter elements for fine filtration. The conical shape allows the elements to be placed very close together without putting too much stress on the elements.
Due to the high differential pressures inside the suction evacuators, the elements needed to be reinforced, to avoid a collapse of the inner core
The elements can be changed from the clean side. Because of a special connection system, the elements can handle the emptying process without any problems
With PTFE membrane filter medias, the elements can be used in nearly all applications
