Small but powerful

The electronic pressure maintenance systems of the DHS 4.0 series from KASER Kompressoren not only offer protection for your processing components, but also reliably guarantee the quality of your compressed air. Even if your compressed air supply is completely switched off, such as on weekends, the system handles this task effortlessly. It is precisely in such situations that the advantages of the KAESER pressure maintenance system come into play.

01

What makes DHS 4.0 so special?

If the network is depressurized after rest periods, the compressors lack the resistance of the network pressure when starting up. However, the compressed air preparation components of a compressed air system are designed for the volume flows and flow velocities in the compressed air network during operation. There is therefore a risk that the compressed air will pass through the filter and dryer at too high a speed if there is no counterpressure. This can lead to damage to the filter elements and increase the pressure dew point of the refrigeration dryer. Contaminants such as oil, particles and moisture could accumulate in the piping network and the process air.

SAFE COMPRESSED AIR SUPPLY

The use of the DHS 4.0 series electronic pressure maintenance system from KAESER not only ensures the minimum pressure required for a smooth start-up of the network and safe operation of the compressed air station, but also offers numerous advantages during ongoing operation.

These systems are indispensable, particularly in systems with multiple treatment lines, as they ensure a consistently high quality of compressed air. For example, in the event of malfunctions in dryers or filters, the pressure maintenance system shuts off the affected line, which not only maintains the quality of the compressed air, but also protects the pipeline network and consumers in production.

This protection also leads to significant cost savings, as processing components, compressed air tanks and pipes are protected, thus ensuring a long service life. This prevents harmful stress caused by high pressure fluctuations. By integrating with SIGMA AIR MANAGER 4.0, you have full control over your system and ensure maximum reliability and availability of the compressed air supply.

The advantages

  • Guarantee of compressed air quality in the network by quickly and reliably switching off the affected supply line in the event of error messages, be it on the DHS itself or on external devices such as refrigeration dryers.
  • Reduction of the pressure fluctuation load on the compressed air tank in the compressed air station to a maximum of 10% of the permissible pressure fluctuations from the maximum operating pressure.
  • Control of low flow velocities when filling the network to prevent the processing from being overrun by excessive volume flows.
  • Energy saving by centrally switching off the compressed air supply, which keeps the compressed air in the station and avoids unnecessary leakage losses.

Structure & functionality

OPTIONALLY WITH BALL VALVE OR INTERMEDIATE FLAP

Ball valve

  • Optionally up to 63 bar
  • Designation: “G” + size in inches

Intermediate flap

  • Designation: DN information

TWO-LINE CLEAR TEXT DISPLAY

  • DHS 4.0 is perfectly tailored to your needs – user-friendliness was the focus of development. Each DHS 4.0 can be intuitively adapted to different applications via the display or the SIGMA AIR MANAGER 4.0. A clear display of the operating status and the uncomplicated backup of the operating parameters are further outstanding features.

SIGMA NETWORK interface

  • The pressure maintenance system can be connected to a higher-level control system via an M12 screw connection with IP65.

SUITABLE VERSION

  • All common sizes and standards are available for maximum adaptability to every project. The use of end point flaps simplifies assembly and enables one-sided dismantling of the pipeline.

WIDE VISION LED DISPLAY

  • Green LED light signals a valve position of 100% – open.
  • Flashing green LED light indicates the faucet is moving toward the opening
  • Red LED light indicates valve position 0% – closed.
  • Flashing red LED light indicates the faucet is moving toward closing.

A two-color mechanical operating indicator is used for additional safety.

PULSE WIDTH MODULATION

  • KAESER’s control algorithm is based on pulse width modulation and ensures a stable compressed air supply through a step-by-step opening and closing mechanism. This prevents vibrations in the compressed air network and prevents damage to the processing components.

SWITCHABLE OPERATION MODES

The DHS 4.0 series electronic pressure maintenance systems offer two functional modes that can be selected and adjusted by the operator depending on the requirements and settings of the compressed air station.

Operating mode settings:

  • Yellow = ensuring safe compressed air quality
  • Blue = ensuring reliable compressed air supply

The selected operating mode is fixed by a locking screw.

HAND EMERGENCY OPERATION

In the event of a power failure, the valve can be operated manually with a special key in an emergency. The behavior is determined in advance by the selection of the functionality.

DHS 4.0 WITH EXTERNAL PRESSURE TRANSMITTER (DMU)

  • An external DMU was implemented in place of the internal DMU
  • The external DMU provides greater accuracy, is less prone to failure, and allows for easier replacement in the event of a defect.
  • The upstream “police filter” protects the electronic unit from contamination and offers additional security by monitoring compliance with the required compressed air quality (including control options).

STANDARD PRE-FILTER

The standard pre-filter serves to protect the control unit and at the same time acts as an indicator of contamination and moisture at the transfer point.

Applications

EXTERNAL PRESSURE SIGNAL

  • Energy saving through: DMU at the transfer point (demand-based pressure)
  • Differential pressures of the preparation are excluded

SAFE COMPRESSED AIR SUPPLY

  • The pulse width modulated opening and closing of ball valves and butterfly valves ensures efficient and reliable operation of the compressed air supply.
  • Even in the event of a power failure, the pressure maintenance system (DHS) remains open so that the air stored in the compressed air tanks can continue to be used. This makes it possible, for example, to move production systems safely to their final position.

COMPLEX COMPRESSED AIR STATION WITH REDUNDANT PROCESSING & SAM 4.0

  • In the event of a fault in a treatment train, the corresponding pressure maintenance system (DHS) is automatically closed to ensure the quality of the compressed air, operating in safe compressed air quality mode.
  • At the same time, a fault message is sent to SAM 4.0.

SAFE COMPRESSED AIR QUALITY

  • The pressure maintenance system (DHS) automatically blocks the affected line in the event of a dryer or filter failure (factory set).
  • In addition, the DHS closes in the event of a voltage drop, which interrupts the compressed air supply.
  • This ensures that no contaminants get into the pipe network.

OVERFLOW VALVE FOR TWO COMPRESSED AIR NETWORKS

  • For example, standby mode can serve as a redundant solution for a second compressed air network.
  • Two modes can be set: DHS / Ctrl Inversc
  • In the event of a compressor failure in the low pressure network (4 bar), the pressure maintenance system (DHS) ensures that compressed air flows over from the high pressure network (8 bar). This requires the provision of a backup compressor in the high-pressure network.

TIME CONTROL VIA SAM 4.0

  • Time control for shift operation
  • Time control for weekend operation
