A question of aesthetics.

Compressed air for a fixed price

Is water beautiful? The answer to this question is quite simply YES. Because sanitary products ensure that the water jet is shaped, the flow rate is regulated and the water is protected from impurities. And although they are found in almost all of our washbasin, bathtub and kitchen fittings, they eke out their purposeful existence almost unnoticed because they are actually invisible themselves.

The customer of KAESER is a leading global supplier to the sanitary industry and its product portfolio includes sanitary products such as aertors, flow regulators, backflow preventers, diverters, connection and shower hoses as well as various accessories. There products can be found on every washbasin tap as well as on bathtubs. The use of these special products makes the water jet splash-free and the addition of air makes it pleasantly soft on the skin. In addition, faucet noise is reduced and both water and energy are saved through their use.

Challenge

Due to the steadily increasing demand for sanitary accessories, the customer of KAESER decided to expand the production area with a new company hall. Compressed air is used to operate all the equipment on the company premises and is therefore dependent on precisely defined parameters and is of the utmost importance. The existing compressed air supply no longer met the latest requirements and therefore had to be replaced and modernised accordingly.

Solution statement

  • KAESER first conducted a detailed compressed air requirements analysis (ADA analysis) at the beginning of the project. The analysis showed that the use of a KAESER SIGMA AIR UTILITY STATION could best meet the customer’s needs.
  • KAESER decided to install several different screw compressors for this project: 1 x KAESER CSD 105, 3 x KAESER CSDX 165 and 1 x KAESER CSDX 165 SFC.
  • Three downstream KAESER TF 340 compressors are used to dry the compressed air to a pressure dew point of class 4 according to ISO 8573-1.
  • A cross-machine control system KAESER SIGMA AIR MANAGER 4.0 combines the requirements for the most effective machines in each case.

Customer value

  • The use of a KAESER SIGMA AIR UTILITY STATION offers the customer various advantages: no investment costs; the running costs can be calculated in the form of a fixed basic price and maintenance is covered free of charge by the KAESER service.
  • The complete KAESER system is housed in a container outside the production halls.
  • The ventilation ducts are also outside, less piping was used for the installation and the outdoor installation is also more favourable for fire protection.
  • By installing the new KAESER system, energy consumption was reduced by about 15 per cent after only 4 weeks.
